Why Boomer Green

Welcome and Hey there my first post as a blogger ....Been thinking about blogging for quite awhile lots of idea's but no real lasting connections to the subjects I had thought about.

So Why Boomer Green...well,  I am a child of the boomer age, an era of thought that everything is disposable and replaceable with new. If You want something just buy it, no thought to recycling, or re-purposing, just put it in the trash and on the side of the road for garbage day. It wasn't until my college days in the 80's that I gave second hand shopping a thought or try...in my mind I was not thinking green but more about keeping those Green Bucks in my back pocket for other college day activities. So yes I have been a thriftier in a sense of many years.

But this Year I turned 50... yup the big five-o in March and I got to thinking about what I could do to challenge myself to make a more positive contribution to my world....and with Earth Day less than 24hours away I have decided to Go Green, pledging myself to live a life style of  upcycling, repurposing and recycling my landscape without buying anything new for one year (tackling one year at time and then going from there...and yes folks there are a few items that will be purchased new like food and personal hygiene products but will be looking for more eco-friendly packaging on all of those products). So this blog is about my journey on changing my habits and making a conscious effort to be green.

So on April 22nd, 2013 I embrace and start my journey of Living a Life of GREEN here in good old London Ontario.
